Aarau, Switzerland – 22 January 2014 – Digital asset management (DAM) materials that offer educational value without sales agendas are difficult to find, says Swiss DAM software vendor Picturepark®. To help those who are interested in such materials, Picturepark has launched the #LearnDAM initiative.
By searching Google, Twitter or other social networks for the unique #LearnDAM hashtag, DAM professionals can now more easily spot and re-share materials assumed to be focused on digital asset management education and not commercial agendas.
“Google doesn’t always get it right when it comes to filtering out nonsense,” said Picturepark global marketing director, David Diamond, who won the 2013 “DAMMY of the Year” for his educational contributions to the DAM industry. “DAM vendors and others with established websites typically rank higher in search results, even when the content they offer isn’t the best. We’re hoping #LearnDAM helps level the playing field so those who want to find these materials can find them.”
Picturepark concedes that it has no control over use of the tag by others who might try to leverage it for commercial gains. It hopes the DAM community will self-police use of the tag to preserve its integrity.
“Everyone who has quality DAM educational materials to share to is encouraged to use the hashtag,” explained Picturepark CEO, Ramon Forster. “We expect that those who abuse it will be called out by others who believe in the spirit of the initiative. Ultimately, this is about the global DAM community—we’re just using Picturepark resources to get it going.”
Picturepark has planned a number of new educational resources that will be released under the initiative in 2014. Previous DAM education resources the company has offered include its webinars, eBooks, “Learn DAM” website resources and DAM Guru Program, all of which were provided with no sales bias.

About Picturepark
Picturepark digital asset management software enables organizations to centrally store, manage and share digital assets on a modern service-oriented architecture (SOA) that is scalable, based on open standards, and available in the Cloud (SaaS), on-premise or in hybrids. Picturepark is suitable for enterprise-wide DAM deployment thanks, in part, to load-balancing, failover, service-based computer clustering, and support for true multi-tenant deployment. Adaptive Metadata technology enables each class of asset to have its own metadata schema that can evolve over time. Support for multiple taxonomies and controlled vocabularies is standard. The Picturepark Web Services API enables developers to integrate Picturepark with other systems. Embedded and branded Web portals based on HTML5/CSS can be built using the graphical Picturepark Ports tool.
