Aarau, Switzerland – 1st July 2019 – Swiss content system provider Picturepark® today announced the general availability of the July 2019 update to their Picturepark Content Platform. The update introduces the Picturepark App Manager, along with a first trusted app, the Excel Roundtripping app as well as adding UX and performance improvements.
The App Manager is a new capability that integrates trusted third party apps within the Content Platform itself but allows for standalone apps to be created, operated and hosted completely independently from Picturepark. Developed by Picturepark as part of their focus on API-First design and enabling better content connectability and process management, the App Manager opens up the possibility for developers to build apps that integrate and interconnect with others: using either the Content Platform or any another system as a content source, for collaboration or data processing.
Stefan Seidl, Picturepark’s Product Manager said: “The App Manager opens up a huge range of new possibilities for Picturepark customers and partners. Not only will they be able to use the designed functionality of the apps themselves but they will also be able to develop highly-customised workflows for their organisations by either connecting together pre-existing apps or requesting the development of new ones.” He also added: “The App Manager is a strategically important feature for data orchestration and content routing, it will be further extended in future releases; based on the integrator’s interest and feedback.
The Excel Roundtripping app, developed and provided by Picturepark itself using the Picturepark SDKs and API, is the first app provided through the App Manager, and designed to boost the productivity of editors. Using it, they can save time by exporting data such as content metadata and list items on a massive scale, editing it within Excel or other spreadsheet tools and then re-importing it for the update of existing data in the Content Platform. But the app is also helpful when importing data from other sources too, those outside of the Picturepark Content Platform, such as from other DAM, PIM or MDM systems. It also provides data exports for the purpose of data reviews and analytics.
The July 2019 update of the Content Platform also includes other updates such as enabling layer and filter states to be stored locally in the browser, based on the last setting of the users. A batch editor update enables editors to “reverse” filter items that are not assigned with a user-defined metadata layer, and more. The features are covered in full in the release notes.
