Aarau, Switzerland – 25 September 2013 – Digital asset management (DAM) software vendor Picturepark will host a live webcast to interview the woman most often credited for bootstrapping the DAM industry. In 1990, Jennifer Neumann founded one of the DAM industry’s first software vendors. She built her company into a global brand and then, as she tried to take the company in a direction she saw as vital for its long-term survival, her tenure as CEO and Chairperson ended.
“No one did more to establish the Digital Asset Management industry than Jennifer Neumann,” claimed Picturepark marketing director, David Diamond, who will host the webcast. “She gave DAM a voice and she provided a clear vision of the potential DAM offers.”
Among the technological firsts for which Neumann can be credited are Web connectivity for a DAM and cross-platform DAM-based filing sharing, both of which were introduced under her direction. She established partner alliances with IBM, Apple, Kodak, Adobe and Quark, introducing them each to Digital Asset Management for the first time. And though she was able to convince most of the tech industry where DAM was headed, she was unable to convince others at her own company.
“They couldn’t see that we needed to provide customers with complete solutions, not just a platform that came with hundreds pages of documentation and our best wishes for success,” said Neumann.
During the webcast, Neumann will speak about the digital asset management industry’s early days, her rise and fall at the company she founded, and she’ll speak about her subsequent move into providing SharePoint solutions. She’ll also offer advice for today’s DAM industry customers and vendors, and she’ll describe where she sees Digital Asset Management, SharePoint and other technologies going next.

About Picturepark
Picturepark digital asset management software enables organizations to centrally store, manage and share digital assets on a modern service-oriented architecture (SOA) that is scalable, based on open standards, and available in the Cloud (SaaS), on-premise or in hybrids. Picturepark is suitable for enterprise-wide DAM deployment thanks, in part, to load-balancing, failover, service-based computer clustering, and support for true multi-tenant deployment. Adaptive Metadata technology enables each class of asset to have its own metadata schema that can evolve over time. Support for multiple taxonomies and controlled vocabularies is standard. The Picturepark Web Services API enables developers to integrate Picturepark with other systems. Embedded and branded Web portals based on HTML5/CSS can be built using the graphical Picturepark Ports tool.
