Aarau, Switzerland – 03 Apr 2013 – Digital asset management (DAM) software maker Picturepark® will host “The Copyright Killings” on May 8, 2013. The free live panel discussion will address “the perfect storm of copyright-free chaos,” whereby social media business practices meet pending global legislation to make it difficult for legal copyright holders to prove ownership over their materials.
Guests will be Michael Steidl, Managing Director for the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC); Jeff Sedlik, President and CEO for the PLUS Coalition; and David Riecks, longtime advocate of metadata standards and practices, and owner of PhotoMetadata.org.
“The Copyright Killings” will be a live discussion between panelists rather than a structured presentation, making the format a first for the Swiss DAM software vendor.
“Our guests are pioneers in this field,” said Picturepark Global Marketing Director, David Diamond, who will host the session. “The smartest thing Picturepark can do is to provide a little structure and let these guys speak about what they know best.”
Attendees will gain an understanding of the current and evolving situation and concerns, they will be introduced to some possible solutions, and they will learn what steps they can take to help ensure their copyrights are protected indefinitely.
The hour-long discussion will include a Q&A section. A link to the recorded discussion can be sent to all registrants, so those unable to attend the live event are encouraged to register.

About Picturepark
Picturepark digital asset management software enables organizations to centrally store, manage and share digital assets on a modern service-oriented architecture (SOA) that is scalable, based on open standards, and available in the Cloud (SaaS), on-premise or in hybrids. Picturepark is suitable for enterprise-wide DAM deployment thanks, in part, to load-balancing, failover, service-based computer clustering, and support for true multi-tenant deployment. Adaptive Metadata technology enables each class of asset to have its own metadata schema that can evolve over time. Support for multiple taxonomies and controlled vocabularies is standard. The Picturepark Web Services API enables developers to integrate Picturepark with other systems. Embedded and branded Web portals based on HTML5/CSS can be built using the graphical Picturepark Ports tool.
