To reflect our country of origin, we like to ingrain Switzerland into other aspects of our products. You may notice that our releases are all given names after one of the most famous things about our country: mountains.

Like the mountains that define Switzerland’s physical landscape, Picturepark has deep roots in the successful Swiss vocational training and education system which defines Switzerland’s educational landscape. Through the scheme, student apprentices gain theoretical understanding and practical experience. This model has helped make Switzerland the recognized world leader in precision.

Many long-time employees joined VIT under this program and chose to stay with the company after graduation.

A History of Innovation

Picturepark is made in Switzerland, but being Swiss is more than a nationality: it is a way we look at and do things. With over two decades of content management experience and industry-changing innovations, we are proud of our past.

• 2022 - Picturepark was acquired by Fotoware AS - a global leader in the DAM industry - becoming Fotoware Switzerland.
• 2019 - The all-new API-First Picturepark Content Platform was released, focusing on data for commerce, automation, and structured data.
• 2016 - After significant shifts in the content management space were observed, development began on the Picturepark Content Platform.
• 2013 - Mediaflow was sold to Scout24 marketplaces (a Ringier company), and other business areas were slowly phased out to streamline the company better.
• 2010 - The software business became focused on the flagship product: Picturepark.
• 2005 - The web-to-print system “Mediaflow” based on the Adobe Indesign Server was released: enabling users to create ads, flyers and brochures - within a web browser.
• 2004 - The online file transfer service “Transfertool” was launched four years before Dropbox entered the same space.
• 2001 - Picturepark’s Web Content Management System “PCMS” was released.
• 2000 - Jehle and his partner Matina Hämmerli started anew with the Picturepark team and founded Vision Information Transaction (VIT).
• 1998 - Picturepark, the world’s first-ever Cloud DAM, was officially released.
• 1997: In collaboration with a customer, a central digital asset management system was created that could be accessed from a web browser.
• 1995 - ISP services are offered to enable the electronic sharing of files.
• 1978 - Founder Bruno Jehle initially started by offering print services.

Another aspect of Swiss culture is philanthropy. This is reflected in statistics as Switzerland has been shown to have one of the highest concentrations of grant or giving foundations in the world. Our founder, Bruno Jehle, operates a charity called KALPAS with his partner Matina Hämmerli, which focuses its efforts on development projects in the South of India. At Picturepark, we have our yearly tradition of donating to this worthwhile cause.
