Taxonomy Structure

A taxonomy structure helps to tag and classify assets. A category tree is created in a separate channel, which is used by multiple authorised users.  When naming the assets terms that describe the assets which will later be assigned to the categories are used. A category tree such as this is often hierarchically structured.  As these categories are assigned to assets by authorised users, the assets can be consistently tagged and retrieved. Examples:

No special prerequisites are necessary for the set up of the taxonomy structure. A separate channel for the new category structure is helpful, but not absolutely necessary. The process for the set up of a taxonomy structure is as follows:

  1. Creation of a rights template for category rights

A separate category rights template needs to be assigned to the categories in the taxonomy structure. All user groups which need to be given rights to assign assets to the categories need to be given the appropriate rights in this template. The following rights should be given for the corresponding user groups:

  • View: view category and view content
  • Edit: assign

hint Tip

Assets, which are assigned to a "people" category, can also be found by users who do not have rights on this category by entering "people" in the simple search. The rights on these categories therefore only need to be given to users which need to tag the assets.

  1. Set up of the category structure

The category structure can be created after setting up the rights templates and the new template can be assigned to the categories.

  1. Checking the rights with impersonate

You can check if the rights have been set correctly by impersonating.
